Question
I am an employee who also takes classes at South Dakota State University. What do I need to know about my email / O365 account?
Answer
Employees who take classes at SDSU receive a separate student email / O365 account.
- Employees who take classes will have two email / O365 accounts: employee and student.
- Each account can be accessed using the respective, employee or student, MyState O365 login credentials reflected below.
| Employee Email / O365 Account |
Student Email / O365 Account |
|
Employee Login:
- Username: first.last@sdstate.edu
- Password
|
Student Login:
- Username: first.last@jacks.sdstate.edu
- Password
|
| Email Address: first.last@sdstate.edu |
Email Address: first.last@jacks.sdstate.edu |
| Email Received: employee |
Email Received: student |
Note: There will be a small number of email addresses that will include a number in the email address. If there is more than one person with the same first and last name your email address may contain a number, for example:
- Student: first.last#@jacks.sdstate.edu
- Employee: first.last#@sdstate.edu
Points to Remember
- You will need to log in to both of your employee and student email accounts with the appropriate myState login.
- You will receive a student email account at any South Dakota State institution where you take classes. All email will be delivered to one student mailbox.
- If you are both employee and student, you will need to set up Multi-factor authentication (MFA) on both your employee and student accounts. Duo can support multiple accounts.
