Body

Question

How do I request non-service animal approval for on-campus housing?

Answer

  1. After submitting the SDSU Housing Application complete the Non-Service Animal in University Residence Form.
  2. The completed form and a verification request will be sent to the health care provider listed on the Non-Service Animal in University Residence Form.
  3. Once the Office of Disability Services receives the required documentation from the student’s provider, staff will review it.
  4. The student will be notified of the decision.
  5. If approved, Housing and Residential Life will contact the student about their rights and responsibilities regarding animals in housing.

Receiving information from Housing and Residential Life does NOT mean your animal has been approved.

Do not bring an animal to campus until it has been officially approved. Bringing an unapproved animal may result in immediate removal due to safety concerns in shared housing.

*If the request is made less than 60 days before moving into the residence hall, SDSU cannot guarantee that housing accommodations will be in place for the first semester or term. The time it takes to review and approve a request depends on when the request is submitted, available housing at the time, and review of documentation and animal verification, if applicable.
