Technology Standards
The Division of Technology and Security has begun taking a more active role in technology procurement procedures to respond to campus needs more efficiently, and help with the extended shipping times that most computer hardware items are experiencing. To this end new technology standards have been employed to help facilitate these objectives. This helps ensure that new systems are up to date and have a basic longevity that is compatible with future upgrades or updates to SDSU's IT infrastructure as a whole.
Minimum/Maximum Guidelines
New minimum and maximum guidelines for computer purchases have been established. Standard and High-End systems will be considered typical computer hardware purchases and will not need additional discussions to be approved. To be considered Standard or High-End a system must have at least an i7 processor, have 16GB to 32GB of RAM Memory, and have a hard drive no less than 256GB and no more than 1TB. Custom high-end systems that fall outside of these ranges will need to be discussed and justified with Rory Reid (688-5354) before they will be approved.
