Account Lockout For Students

Question

How do I prevent my account from being locked out?

Answer

Account lockouts can occur after 3 incorrect login attempts. To prevent account lockouts, make sure to sign out of the following on all devices

Windows Computer 

  • Forget all SDSU wireless networks (i.e., SDSUStudent, SDSUFacStaff, eduroam, SDSUGuest) 
  • Credential Manager  
    • Search 'Credential Manager' in the Windows search bar 
    • Check both Web and Windows sections.  
    • Remove anything related to SDSU accounts (Adobe ones you can leave)  
  • Remove all SDSU saved passwords from all browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, etc.) 
  • Check if there are any 'Work or School Accounts' connected to the computer. 
    • If there are any SDSU accounts that show up in there, remove them. 
  • Sign out of Outlook. 
  • Sign out of Office Products 
    • Open Word or Excel 
    • Go to 'Account' and select 'Sign Out.’ 
  • Sign out of OneDrive. 
  • Sign out of Box. 
  • Sign out of Zoom. 
  • Sign out of Adobe (if signed in with Jacks account)

Mac Computer 

  • Forget all SDSU wireless networks (i.e., SDSUStudent, SDSUFacStaff, eduroam, SDSUGuest) 
  • If connected via ethernet through a VOIP phone, reset the VOIP phone (hold 1-3-0 at the same time until the SDSU logo comes up) 
  • Keychain 
    • Click the Magnifying Glass   
    • Type Keychain Access (or open from utilities folder)  
    • Thoroughly search through all entries and remove any related to SDSU accounts.  
  • Remove all SDSU saved passwords from all browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc.) 
  • Internet Accounts 
    • Go to 'System Settings' 
    • Scroll to 'Internet Accounts' 
    • Remove any SDSU Accounts 
  • Sign out of Outlook. 
  • Sign out of Office Products 
    • Open Word or Excel 
    • Go to 'Account' and select 'Sign Out.’ 
  • Sign out of OneDrive. 
  • Sign out of Box. 
  • Sign out of Zoom. 
  • Sign out of Adobe (if signed in with Jacks account)

iPhone/iPad 

  • Forget all SDSU wireless networks (i.e., SDSUStudent, SDSUFacStaff, eduroam, SDSUGuest) 
  • Device Passwords 
    • Open Settings 
    • Scroll down to Passwords. 
    • Clear all SDSU related passwords. 
  • Sign out of Outlook. 
  • Sign out of OneDrive. 
  • Sign out of Box. 
  • Sign out of any SDSU apps (Zoom, Starship, Jackrabbit App, Wellness Center, Pulse, etc.) 

 

Android Phone/Tablet 

  • Forget all SDSU wireless networks (i.e., SDSUStudent, SDSUFacStaff, eduroam, SDSUGuest) 
  • Device Passwords 
  • Sign out of Outlook. 
  • Sign out of OneDrive. 
  • Sign out of Box. 
  • Sign out of any SDSU apps (Zoom, Starship, Jackrabbit App, Wellness Center, Pulse, etc.)
