How do I install Lockdown Browser? 

I Need to install latest Lockdown Browser 

I receive an error when installing Respondus 

How do I download LockDown Browser? 

Error: Unable to store institution ID to the registry, installation will not work correctly. 

Environment 

  • Desire2Learn (D2L)  

  • Respondus Lockdown Browser 

  • Operating Systems: 

  • Microsoft Windows  

  • MacOS 

  • Chromebook 

Cause 

  • Students will need to install the Respondus Lockdown Browser for taking tests online  

Resolution 

Note: It is no longer necessary for instructors to enable the Chromebook option on a per exam basis.  

  1. Go to Respondus Lockdown Browser install page through the Firefox browser 
    Note: If installing on a Chromebook see Installing Lockdown Browser for Chromebooks 
    Note: If installing on an iPad see Lockdown Browser for iPad 

  1. Click Install Now 

  1. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete installation  
    Note: You may need to run the installation as an administrator 

System requirements for installing and FAQ's  

Note:  Linux and Chrome OS are not supported! 
If using mobile devices—smartphones (e.g., an iPhone™), tablets (e.g., an iPad™), Chromebooks, You MUST have access to another computer.
