Question
You are living or traveling outside of the U.S. and need to authenticate with Duo to access your account
Answer
If you are living or traveling outside the U.S., it is likely your international phone number can be added to Duo. You can add it yourself using the steps listed in the article Add a Secondary Device or Manage Existing Devices in Duo, or you can contact the support desk to have a Duo administrator add it for you.
You can add your international phone number as mentioned above, but we also recommend purchasing a Duo Hardware Token to use as a primary (or backup) method of authentication. See article Using a Duo Hardware Token and Where to Buy One
It’s important to remember that the Duo Mobile application can be used to generate passcodes on airplanes or in remote regions where Duo Push may be unavailable of difficult to use.
Please note that Duo Push can use a Wi-Fi connection to function. If you can access the Internet from your mobile device, you can receive push notifications.
