Overview
Duo Mobile will end support for iOS 16 and Android 11 (and older) on April 16, 2026. After this date, the minimum supported operating systems will be:
- iOS 17 or later
- Android 12 or later
To maintain security, reliability, and access to new features, Duo Mobile must run on a supported operating system.
Why This Change Is Happening
Apple and Google regularly release new versions of their mobile operating systems. As older versions reach end‑of‑service (EOS) or end‑of‑life (EOL), they stop receiving critical security updates.
To stay aligned with these platform lifecycle changes and ensure continued protection for users, Duo Mobile will no longer support iOS 16 or Android 11 after April 16, 2026.
Impact After April 16, 2026
After the end‑of‑support date:
- Duo Mobile running on iOS 16 or Android 11 will no longer receive updates or security fixes
- Duo Support will not troubleshoot issues related to these operating systems
- Duo Mobile–generated passcodes will continue to work on existing installations, but without maintenance or fixes
- Users on iOS 16 or Android 11 cannot install or update to the latest version of the Duo Mobile app
- Duo Mobile will remain fully supported on iOS 17 and higher, and Android 12 and higher
Some users are currently authenticating with Duo Mobile on iOS 16 or Android 11. While authentication may continue, these devices will be outside Duo’s supported scope after April 16, 2026.
Required User Action
Users must take one of the following actions before April 16, 2026:
- Update their mobile device to iOS 17 or Android 12 (or newer)
OR
- Replace the device if it cannot be upgraded to a supported operating system
Failure to do so may result in authentication limitations and unsupported Duo Mobile usage.
