Zoom is a cloud based service which provides simple online meetings, content sharing, and video conferencing capability. You do not need a Zoom account to attend a Zoom meeting, only the host is required to have an account to enable the scheduling of meetings. All active faculty, staff, and students at SDSU are entitled to a Zoom account.
When using the Zoom web client, you still have the option to blur your background or use an image for your background to maintain a degree of privacy.

Before you leave the University or switch positions, you can transfer your scheduled Zoom meetings to another user. This may be helpful if you’ve scheduled recurring meetings for your department or group.

Zoom is not going away. However, Zoom cloud recordings will now be hosted in Panopto rather than Zoom.
The Zoom for Outlook add-in allows you to manage scheduling within the Outlook web and desktop apps. The add-in can be deployed and configured by Outlook admins and, once installed by users, it allows you to easily add a Zoom meeting to any new or existing calendar event.
